Many people think that eating eggs when they have a fever is not only easy to digest, but also nutritious, which is good for restoring health, but this is unscientific. A patient with a fever who eats eggs will increase the heat in the body, because the heat cannot be dissipated, as if “the oil on the fire” will burn even more.

Wang Jing, deputy director of Chinese Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital physician Li Zhi told reporters, eggs contain nutrients rich indeed, but not during the fever to eat, especially fried egg or scrambled eggs.

Eating eggs exacerbates fever symptoms

Because eggs contain mainly egg protein and egg globulin, they are a complete protein, 99.7% can be absorbed by the body. After eating eggs, it will produce a certain amount of extra calories, which will increase the body’s calories and aggravate the symptoms of fever.

Don’t eat lean meat or fish

Similarly, other high-protein foods such as lean meat and fish will also increase the body’s calories and should be eaten as little as possible.

Fever patients should eat liquid or semi-liquid foods

The diet of patients with fever should be light, digestible, and rich in vitamins, usually based on liquid or semi-liquid foods, such as rice soup , porridge, noodles, glutinous rice, etc., with some fresh fruit. After the fever, you can eat chicken noodle soup, vegetable porridge and other food. By the end of the recovery, you can add more high-protein foods such as lean meat, fish, and tofu.
